Jedidiah: 1 Month Old

One month old already.... where has the time gone! We are LOVING being a family of 4. Jedidiah is so loved by everyone, especially his big sister Amelia. She is loving having him here, she always wants to hold him and hug him. She's very concerned when he's crying and wants him to "eat boobies" as soon as he starts crying.

Height: 21 inches

Weight: 10 pounds, 1 ounce

Clothes: Jed outgrew newborn clothes after about a week, he's wearing 0-3/3 month old clothes.

Diaper: size 1

Eating: We've made it our first month breastfeeding! It's definitely easier this time around so far. Our first 2 weeks I woke him up every 2-3 hours to eat. After 2 weeks I stopped waking you up at night since you were at your birth weight. At night you go between 4-6 hours of sleep, which is great! During the day you nurse every 2-3 hours and then from about 5-10pm you pretty much nurse every hour. You definitely cluster feed and then sleep during longer during the night, which I'm not complaining about! Oma did give Jed a bottle last week so he could start to get used to them a little bit.

Sleeping: You sleep in our room in your bassinet. You don't love being swaddled and always have your hands sticking out when you wake up for your night feeding. I feed you around 11pm, swaddle & rock you, and then you wake up between 4am-6am to nurse.

Happening this month:

Having a summer baby has been wonderful- especially since big sister Amelia is home and a very energetic toddler!

+you celebrated your first Father's Day with Oma & Opa, Grandpa & Nana, Aunt Courtney, Aunt Chelsey & Uncle Todd, Uncle Matt & Aunt Nicole

+Had your first 4th of July! We went to the pool party at Grandma's house, fireworks and your first parade!

+Having a big sister that needs to be kept going means you've gone lots of fun places- we've been to the children's museum, the zoo, and the pool. You're such an easy baby to bring places- as long as your sleeping or nursing, you're always happy!

+You love looking around and holding your head up! You enjoy tummy time for the most part.

+You love Amelia! Whenever she's around and talking to you, you're always looking for her.

+You don't mind your car seat, you're always looking around to see what's going on.

+you started smiling!

Jed- we love having you in our family! You're such an easy baby and everyone loves you already! We can't wait to watch you grow and see your personality starting.

June Happenings

It's hard to believe that June has come & gone. June was a busy month with the end of school and the arrival of Jedidiah, but it was also very relaxing with the start of summer and all the fun things that summer brings.

Brad was able to spend some time at home with us after the arrival of Jedidiah and we LOVED having him home. We definitely miss him now that he's back at work.

+We enjoyed going to a baseball game with my parents. Amelia LOVES baseball and she rocked her baseball moccs. It was a super hot day but we enjoyed the fun day before the arrival of Jedidiah.

+We went to Breakfast on the Farm for the first time. Amelia loved getting to go on a hayride, petting the baby cows, and looking at all of the big tractors.

+Jedidiah was born! We love our new little addition and are so enjoying having a little baby in the house. Amelia loves her new little brother.

+The Bogenschutz family grew by another addition- Matt & Nicole welcomed their daughter Quinnley! We are so excited for our first niece, and Amelia loves having a little cousin! I hope that Jed and Quinnley have so much fun together, growing up so close in age! I'm sure Amelia will teach them so many fun ways to be trouble.

+We celebrated Father's Day! My parents, Courtney, Chelsey & Todd, Paul & Judy & Matt & Nicole came over. We celebrated with lots of yummy food, ice cream cake and time spent with family.

+We loved getting to do lots of fun things as a family while Brad was home with us. We went to the Children's Museum, lots of swimming outside, and Mulberry Farm. Amelia loved getting to pet all the animals. She went on a pony ride- which she LOVED this year.

Summer is my favorite season because there's soooo many fun things going on around town. Amelia loves being outside and going places with her family.

Here's to the rest of summer and enjoying time with our kids. Can't wait to see what July & August have in store for us.

Welcome Jedidiah David!

I missed the last couple "bump" updates but that's ok because our little guy has officially joined the family!

On June 12, I had my doctor appointment; Brad & Amelia were able to join & listen to the heartbeat. I was only dilated 1 cm but my doctor wanted to schedule an induction date because of my history with Amelia & her getting stuck. He had already scheduled us for Wednesday.

Tuesday night we had dinner at my parents house so we could drop off the dogs and Amelia. Brad & I went home & tried to get some sleep, but we were to anxious/excited to get a good night's sleep.

Wednesday, June 14 we had to be at the hospital bright & early! We got there around 5am and checked in/registered. The nurses hooked me up to the monitors and my doctor came in around 6am. He inserted the jelly, mentioned that I was at 4cm, and that he'd be back to check me later. Around 7:30 my doctor broke my water. I enjoyed some time in the jaccuzzi tub and ate lots of popsicles. I wasn't dilating very fast so the doctor started pitocin around 9am. At 10:00 am I was definitely starting to feel contractions; from 10:00-1:00 I was feeling contractions and was dilating about a cm an hour.

My doctor came in around 1:15 and said it was time to push! After 5 pushes Jedidiah was born! The doctor and nurses told me to reach down, I had no idea why and they finally told me to reach down because he was here! The doctors handed me Jedidiah and he snuggled right up. Brad was able to cut the cord and we enjoyed looking at our handsome son. The nurses cleaned him up and measured him- he weighed 9lbs 11 oz and was 21 inches long. He has some hair but it's very light, we're thinking he's going to be blonde like Bradley was.

We spent time doing skin-to-skin and enjoying Jed for awhile. My dad brought Amelia up and we enjoyed our time together as a family of 4. Jedidiah had lots of visitors after our family time.

Random things about Jedidiah's birthday-
+there were 11 tornadoes in Wisconsin on the day he was born. We weren't allowed to change our room because we were under a tornado warning.
+he was born on flag day!

Amelia loves her little brother and was so excited to finally see him. She's smitten with him! Brad & I are blessed to have our little boy and we're loving being a family of 4.

May Happenings.

It's the end of May, which means it's almost time for baby brother to be here. We're very excited for our new adventure to join our family. May was a busy month; enjoying our time together as a family of 3.

+Brad & Paul built Amelia her swing set! She loves her clubhouse and her slides/swings. Amelia loves going outside to play with on her new swing set.

+Mother's Day we were able to enjoy time with both of our moms. We went to Matt & Nicole's house for dinner with Barb. We then enjoyed our day at the zoo with both moms. Going to the zoo on Mother's Day is a fun family tradition that we've done since my first Mother's Day. Amelia loved getting to feed the giraffes and looking at the animals. After the zoo we went to a cookout at my parents house.

+to celebrate Memorial Day we went to the Memorial Day parade in town. Judy and my mom joined Amelia & I. She loved getting to hear the bands and seeing the firetrucks.

May was a pretty relaxing overall. We spent a lot of time enjoying our little family and getting things finished around the house. Amelia enjoyed swimming lessons and gymnastics and loved getting to play outside.

Here's to May ending.... We're excited for June to arrive!
