Welcome Miss Amelia Lee!

I haven't written in a couple weeks because we've been busy adjusting to life with our beautiful daughter, Amelia Lee! But I have some down time right now, with Amelia sleeping soundly in her bassinet and I wanted to be able to write down type the story of her birth, while the memories are still fresh in my head.

On Monday, Dec. 15th I went to my regularly scheduled 39 week doctor appointment. I was told that I was 4 cm dilated and completely thinned out. My doctor had said at my 38 week appointment that depending on how dilated I was that he wanted to schedule an induction. I had heard many horror stories of being induced and didn't really want to be induced so I was hoping that baby Bogie would make her appearance before that, but no such luck! At my 39 week my doctor said we should probably talk about inducing me because of how far dilated I was... after asking questions and being assured that I could still walk around/wouldn't be confined to the bed, Brad & I decided that he's a doctor for a reason and I trusted his opinion. We scheduled our induction date for Wednesday, Dec. 17th.

The next couple days were exciting but very nerve wracking because I knew that I would be having a baby soon, like within the next couple days. I felt stressed and felt like there was now a million things I needed to do before she came into this world. Brad & I did lots of prepping around the house to make sure that we had everything ready. Tuesday night we went to bed early, prayed and tried to get a good night sleep... the key word in that sentence is *tried. I was trying to be pro-active and get the dogs ready for the baby- so I wanted to cut their nails.. well I ended up cutting Dixie's nail too short, it started bleeding and it took us an hour to get her nail to stop bleeding. Then once we finally were able to go to bed Clementine decided that she wasn't too keen on sleep, and was very antsy all night long. We were able to get a little bit of sleep though.

At around 3:30 we woke up, packed the car with our bags and the dogs and headed to meet my parents at the hospital. My dad and mom met us at the hospital around 5am, my dad took the dogs to their house and my mom stayed with Brad & I. We went inside, registered, and they took us to the delivery room. They hooked up the monitors to keep an eye on the baby's heartbeat and we waited for my doctor to arrive. He came in around 6:10am and inserted the inducing jelly, said that I was still at 4cm and that he'd be back to check on me later. I didn't really start to have contractions with the jelly, but I did get really sick. My doctor came back around 7:30am to break my water and I was still at only 4cm. Once he broke my water though the contractions started to get stronger and more uncomfortable and I was still getting sick. I didn't want to lay in the bed anymore and decided that I wanted to lay in the Jacuzzi tub. I laid in there for around an hour and my doctor came back to check me. I was at 7cm after about an hour... and still getting sick... my doctor and nurse decided that since I was getting too dehydrated that I need to be hooked up to the IV to get some fluids. At that time he suggested that I get an iv of pain medicine also, since I was progressing pretty fast and he didn't want me to be exhausted. The pain medicine helped me to relax in between contractions. The doctor came back and checked me one more time, I was around 9 cm and he was fairly optimistic we'd have a baby by noon(ish!). Around 11am I was check and told that I could start pushing- finally! All I remember thinking is that it was almost time to meet our little girl!

I started pushing around 11am and around 11:30am the nurse was calling the doctor to come in because she could see the baby's head. The doctor walked in and started getting his gear on, my body was pushing so fast he almost didn't get his outfit on in time! Once the doctor was in, it only took a couple big pushes for her to start coming out. The last 5 minutes got scary though, Amelia's right shoulder got stuck. The doctor called for emergency help, one of the nurses jumped on me/straddled me and started pushing on my stomach, and the other nurses kept talking/yelling for me to keep pushing. The doctor was able to move her and pulled her out. She was born at 11:44am. The first 5 minutes were the scariest 5 minutes when she wasn't crying at first, the nurses took her and cleaned her and started checking her over to make sure she was fine. Once I heard her crying, everything was good. :]

I remember the nurses checking her over and commenting on how big of a baby she was... Amelia weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz and was 21 3/4 inches long. And she has hair- I was very excited about that!
After about 10 minutes the nurses handed her over to us and Brad & I were able to spend some quiet time with Amelia. We were smitten and so in love with her right away!

There were about 9 babies born at the hospital that day and as far as we know Amelia was the biggest baby! She was the 3rd baby born that morning. We were able to cuddle and bond with her for a couple hours just the 3 of us before everyone came to visit. Amelia had lots of visitors and is already very loved by everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving! (belated)

It's hard to believe that it's already Thanksgiving and the end of November! December is literally days away... This year Thanksgiving was a little different because for Brad & I, it's our last Thanksgiving as a married couple with no children. Next year we'll have an almost one year old along...

This year has been such a blessing that I wanted to really document all that I've been blessed with and everything that I'm thankful for.

  • My Bradley. He's my best friend and my everything. I'm so thankful for everything he does to provide for us and everything he does to make sure our lives are comfortable and that we're able to things we enjoy. He's such a hard worker, both at work and at home. He's always being silly and doing things to make me laugh. Brad knows everything there is to know about me- whenever I'm having a bad day, he knows how to make everything better. I've been blessed with marrying my best friend and I can't wait to see what the next year(s) have in store for us.
  • Baby Bogie! She's not even here yet and I'm already so in love with her! I can't wait for her to grace us with her presence, I'm excited to watch her grow and teach her things. We're already so blessed to have her in our lives and I'm excited for her arrival.
  • Dixie Mae & Clementine Blue- My first "babies", I'm such a dog lover and my dogs really are like my children. They're my snuggle buddies and if I could, I would take them with me wherever I go. Our dogs love us unconditionally and are always happy to be with us.
  • My family- I was blessed with the most amazing family ever. I'm thankful everyday for having such amazing parents, who are willing to help us and would do anything for us or my sisters. I have 2 amazing younger sisters, I love talking with them and I'm excited to see how God is going to bless their futures. I have a wonderful Grandma & Papa, aunts, uncles, cousins; Family is such a blessing. I love being able to spend time together, playing cards or cribbage and enjoying their company.
  • My in-law family- Marrying Brad gave me the opportunity to have wonderful additions to my family. Between my mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law (& future sister-in-law) I know that Brad and I are very blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. We love spending time with them, enjoying each other's company.
  • Our jobs- This year I completed my Birth-Kindergarten license requirements, and I'm now a certified teacher from Birth-8th grade. I'm blessed to teach 4K with a wonderful co-teacher and our 36 students are amazing. I'm excited to see them grow the rest of the year! We're also blessed that Brad has a wonderful job, doing something he loves.
  • I'm also thankful for everyone's health and being able to enjoy each other's company. We've been blessed with many memories with family and opportunities to create more memories. I'm thankful for all of our friends and the times we're able to spend with them. We don't live too close to many of our friends, so any chance to get together is exciting.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and you were able to spend time with your loved ones.

36 Weeks!

How far along are you?: 36 weeks!

How big is your baby?: the size of a honeydew

Total weight gain: 25ish pounds- I finally remembered to ask at my doctor appointment on Monday.

Sex: We're having a little GIRL!!

Maternity clothes: maternity pants every day, and shirts most days

Sleep: sleep is going good- however I'm super sore whenever I wake up in the morning.

Symptoms: good ol' morning sickness and I'm pretty sore/tired by the end of the day.

Movement: feeling her moving around all day lately! best feeling ever.

Best moment this week: It was a nice 3 day week at work, went super fast. Went to the movies, and my mom came over and cleaned the entire house for us. So blessed to have such an amazing mom!

Food cravings: Not really any big cravings, just trying to stay away from some foods because they just simply don't sound appealing

Belly button in or out: in! although it looks like it could start "popping" out at anytime

What I miss:  not being sore every time I move...

What I'm looking forward to: if I had written this post on my actual "36 weeks" day, I would have written it on Wednesday and my looking forward would have been looking forward to Thanksgiving! But I had dinner with some friends and then Thanksgiving came, so now I'm a couple days late. But this week I have my 37 week appointment on Monday and I'm hoping the doctor will give me some news on when to expect this lady!

Labor Signs: I wasn't checked at this past doctor appointment. I'm not really having any signs other than knowing that I'm already dilated 1.5 cm.

My Baby Shower

I realized that I never posted pictures or anything from our baby shower. It was such a wonderful day and we were very blessed by all of the wonderful gifts we received. I had my baby shower at my work in our big large muscle area. My mom, mil, Grandma and Aunts did all of the food and helped with the decorating. We played a couple games and enjoyed spending time with family/friends celebrating our little lady! The shower had a "Winnie the Pooh" theme to go along with her nursery.

It was such a wonderful day and it was nice to see everyone. Our little girl was very spoiled! While I was having my baby shower, Brad's dad threw him a "Diaper BBQ" for the guys at his house. Brad had a great time celebrating with his family and friends. We were able to get a nice little stock of diapers too! :]

So glad we are blessed with such amazing family and friends. Baby Bogie is already so loved!

35 Weeks With Baby Bogie!

How far along are you?: 35 weeks!

How big is your baby?: the size of a coconut

Total weight gain: 17 lbs.

Best moment this week: We were able to do absolutely nothing this past weekend. We put up our Christmas Tree and our Christmas decorations. After that we spent a nice relaxing Sunday simply doing laundry and watching Criminal Minds allllllllll day. I LOVED IT!

Food cravings: Not really any big cravings, just trying to stay away from some foods because they just simply don't sound appealing

Belly button in or out: in! although it looks like it could start "popping" out at anytime

What I miss:  not being sore every time I move...

What I'm looking forward to: this weekend my mom is coming over to help me clean and get the house all ready for our little girl's arrival. & we'll be seeing the Hunger Games with my sister Courtney, plus we have a birthday party for my aunt on Sunday. Such a busy weekend!

Labor Signs: I had a doctor appointment this week and they start being weekly from here on out! I was already 1.5 cm dilated; yes, yes, I know that many women can be that dilated for weeks, but it's still very excited to have 1.5 cm "down" and only 8.5 cm to go! Lol. My doctor also told me that I'm "thinner than normal" and he's betting that I don't make it to my due date. Obviously he didn't say how early he was "guessing" but it's very exciting to think that she'll probably be here before Christmas! That's also a bit stressful to think about because that means she could really come anytime in the next 5 weeks... ready or not she'll be here before we know it!

She's A GIRL!!

So on Monday we went in for our ultrasound. We found out that we're having a precious little GIRL!!

To celebrate we went shopping at Kohl's for some little girl outfits- we decided to just take a picture of the outfits that we bought to send as a text & put on facebook to announce that she's a girl.

So here you go... Our little girl's first set of outfits that her mommy & daddy bought her.
We couldn't be more excited for her to make her arrival in December.

Total weight gain: I gained 2 lbs this week- so I'm at my starting pregnancy weight.

Symptoms: Super sore and my back is killing me. My whole body just aches.

Movement: None yet... very anxious for this little lady to start moving around!

Best moment this week: Our ultrasound and doctor appointment.  Our appointment was wonderful and everything with baby looked great! She was a little stubborn and didn't really want her picture taken- she kept her hand in her face for most of the ultrasound. She's also facing my back (which means all of her kicks are going right into my back) and is curling herself right up to the placenta.

Everything checked out though- she's growing nicely and her measurements/heartbeat were great!

We also went on a date this past weekend! We just went to dinner and then Target (to look at baby items) but it was nice to go out for dinner & sit & chat together for awhile. Bradley & I are best friends and could sit & talk forever while we're eating. Lol.

Food cravings: Nothing really much this week. Pretty much just loving ice cream. Lol.

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss: not being sore every time I move!

What I'm looking forward to: Bradley's mom, Barb is up at the cottage this week. So we're heading there on Saturday to spend the day swimming in the lake. Sooo excited to go swimming & have a nice weekend before school starts in 2 weeks. Also- my parents & sisters have been in California this week. I'm excited that they come home on Saturday!

The ring swung back & forth and in a circle so it wasn't very "clear". Lol.

We're starting to get really excited about finding out the gender of Baby Bogie.. we looked at the Chinese gender chart (it says boys) and the Mayan chart ( which says girl).
