December happenings.

And there we have it, 2017 is (almost) officially done. It's been a great but busy December and I'm excited to have it be done...

+Amelia turned 3! We celebrated with a Doc McStuffins themed family party. She loved getting to be the birthday girl and having everyone celebrate her! We love our spunky, independent, caring little girl. We took Amelia to see PJ Masks to celebrate her day.

+Christmas! We love Christmas and getting to spend time with everyone. We have Christmas with all of our families. It's so nice to be able to spend time together, play games, eat delicious foods and celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Overall it was a busy month, we spent time shopping, decorating cookies/baking pies, snuggling and trying to stay warm, and enjoying time with our family.

Here's to 2017 ending, and hoping that 2018 is just as wonderful!

July Happenings

July! one of my favorite months. I've loved being home on maternity leave this summer- we've been able to enjoy the gorgeous weather and everything summer has to offer...

  • late nights.
  • late mornings.
  • too much ice cream.
  • busy calendar.
  • delicious fresh fruits & veggies.
  • so much grilled food.
  • swimming.

We've had a great month, very busy but a great month!

+we went to the campground and enjoyed a day with my co-teacher Lisa & her family. We love getting to spend time with her family. Amelia just adores them! It was a great day enjoying the weather and swimming.

+July means the 4th of July! I love dressing Amelia in all things patriotic. It was even more fun dressing both Amelia & Jed this year! They looked adorable in their red, white & blue outfits.
the 4th of July means parades! Our town has a "glow" night parade. Amelia loves the bands and the firetrucks. Jed did great for his first parade- he slept the whole time. we went to Barb's for the annual pool party. we loved getting to spend time with family. & we loved getting in extra time with Quinnley, our new niece! we went to fireworks with my family and Brad's dad & Judy. Amelia loved getting to see the fireworks!

+Brad took some Mondays off this summer so it was nice to enjoy those extra long weekends. We took Amelia to the zoo! She loves animals and had a blast... although if you ask her she'll tell you she did not have fun at the zoo because she couldn't touch the animals. the things that come out of a 2 years old's mouth.

+Jed turned a month old! He's a great baby and we just love him so much.

+we've enjoyed countless trips to the museum. Amelia loves going there!

Jedidiah: 1 Month Old

One month old already.... where has the time gone! We are LOVING being a family of 4. Jedidiah is so loved by everyone, especially his big sister Amelia. She is loving having him here, she always wants to hold him and hug him. She's very concerned when he's crying and wants him to "eat boobies" as soon as he starts crying.

Height: 21 inches

Weight: 10 pounds, 1 ounce

Clothes: Jed outgrew newborn clothes after about a week, he's wearing 0-3/3 month old clothes.

Diaper: size 1

Eating: We've made it our first month breastfeeding! It's definitely easier this time around so far. Our first 2 weeks I woke him up every 2-3 hours to eat. After 2 weeks I stopped waking you up at night since you were at your birth weight. At night you go between 4-6 hours of sleep, which is great! During the day you nurse every 2-3 hours and then from about 5-10pm you pretty much nurse every hour. You definitely cluster feed and then sleep during longer during the night, which I'm not complaining about! Oma did give Jed a bottle last week so he could start to get used to them a little bit.

Sleeping: You sleep in our room in your bassinet. You don't love being swaddled and always have your hands sticking out when you wake up for your night feeding. I feed you around 11pm, swaddle & rock you, and then you wake up between 4am-6am to nurse.

Happening this month:

Having a summer baby has been wonderful- especially since big sister Amelia is home and a very energetic toddler!

+you celebrated your first Father's Day with Oma & Opa, Grandpa & Nana, Aunt Courtney, Aunt Chelsey & Uncle Todd, Uncle Matt & Aunt Nicole

+Had your first 4th of July! We went to the pool party at Grandma's house, fireworks and your first parade!

+Having a big sister that needs to be kept going means you've gone lots of fun places- we've been to the children's museum, the zoo, and the pool. You're such an easy baby to bring places- as long as your sleeping or nursing, you're always happy!

+You love looking around and holding your head up! You enjoy tummy time for the most part.

+You love Amelia! Whenever she's around and talking to you, you're always looking for her.

+You don't mind your car seat, you're always looking around to see what's going on.

+you started smiling!

Jed- we love having you in our family! You're such an easy baby and everyone loves you already! We can't wait to watch you grow and see your personality starting.

June Happenings

It's hard to believe that June has come & gone. June was a busy month with the end of school and the arrival of Jedidiah, but it was also very relaxing with the start of summer and all the fun things that summer brings.

Brad was able to spend some time at home with us after the arrival of Jedidiah and we LOVED having him home. We definitely miss him now that he's back at work.

+We enjoyed going to a baseball game with my parents. Amelia LOVES baseball and she rocked her baseball moccs. It was a super hot day but we enjoyed the fun day before the arrival of Jedidiah.

+We went to Breakfast on the Farm for the first time. Amelia loved getting to go on a hayride, petting the baby cows, and looking at all of the big tractors.

+Jedidiah was born! We love our new little addition and are so enjoying having a little baby in the house. Amelia loves her new little brother.

+The Bogenschutz family grew by another addition- Matt & Nicole welcomed their daughter Quinnley! We are so excited for our first niece, and Amelia loves having a little cousin! I hope that Jed and Quinnley have so much fun together, growing up so close in age! I'm sure Amelia will teach them so many fun ways to be trouble.

+We celebrated Father's Day! My parents, Courtney, Chelsey & Todd, Paul & Judy & Matt & Nicole came over. We celebrated with lots of yummy food, ice cream cake and time spent with family.

+We loved getting to do lots of fun things as a family while Brad was home with us. We went to the Children's Museum, lots of swimming outside, and Mulberry Farm. Amelia loved getting to pet all the animals. She went on a pony ride- which she LOVED this year.

Summer is my favorite season because there's soooo many fun things going on around town. Amelia loves being outside and going places with her family.

Here's to the rest of summer and enjoying time with our kids. Can't wait to see what July & August have in store for us.

June 29, 2017

Welcome Jedidiah David!

I missed the last couple "bump" updates but that's ok because our little guy has officially joined the family!

On June 12, I had my doctor appointment; Brad & Amelia were able to join & listen to the heartbeat. I was only dilated 1 cm but my doctor wanted to schedule an induction date because of my history with Amelia & her getting stuck. He had already scheduled us for Wednesday.

Tuesday night we had dinner at my parents house so we could drop off the dogs and Amelia. Brad & I went home & tried to get some sleep, but we were to anxious/excited to get a good night's sleep.

Wednesday, June 14 we had to be at the hospital bright & early! We got there around 5am and checked in/registered. The nurses hooked me up to the monitors and my doctor came in around 6am. He inserted the jelly, mentioned that I was at 4cm, and that he'd be back to check me later. Around 7:30 my doctor broke my water. I enjoyed some time in the jaccuzzi tub and ate lots of popsicles. I wasn't dilating very fast so the doctor started pitocin around 9am. At 10:00 am I was definitely starting to feel contractions; from 10:00-1:00 I was feeling contractions and was dilating about a cm an hour.

My doctor came in around 1:15 and said it was time to push! After 5 pushes Jedidiah was born! The doctor and nurses told me to reach down, I had no idea why and they finally told me to reach down because he was here! The doctors handed me Jedidiah and he snuggled right up. Brad was able to cut the cord and we enjoyed looking at our handsome son. The nurses cleaned him up and measured him- he weighed 9lbs 11 oz and was 21 inches long. He has some hair but it's very light, we're thinking he's going to be blonde like Bradley was.

We spent time doing skin-to-skin and enjoying Jed for awhile. My dad brought Amelia up and we enjoyed our time together as a family of 4. Jedidiah had lots of visitors after our family time.

Random things about Jedidiah's birthday-
+there were 11 tornadoes in Wisconsin on the day he was born. We weren't allowed to change our room because we were under a tornado warning.
+he was born on flag day!

Amelia loves her little brother and was so excited to finally see him. She's smitten with him! Brad & I are blessed to have our little boy and we're loving being a family of 4.

May Happenings.

It's the end of May, which means it's almost time for baby brother to be here. We're very excited for our new adventure to join our family. May was a busy month; enjoying our time together as a family of 3.

+Brad & Paul built Amelia her swing set! She loves her clubhouse and her slides/swings. Amelia loves going outside to play with on her new swing set.

+Mother's Day we were able to enjoy time with both of our moms. We went to Matt & Nicole's house for dinner with Barb. We then enjoyed our day at the zoo with both moms. Going to the zoo on Mother's Day is a fun family tradition that we've done since my first Mother's Day. Amelia loved getting to feed the giraffes and looking at the animals. After the zoo we went to a cookout at my parents house.

+to celebrate Memorial Day we went to the Memorial Day parade in town. Judy and my mom joined Amelia & I. She loved getting to hear the bands and seeing the firetrucks.

May was a pretty relaxing overall. We spent a lot of time enjoying our little family and getting things finished around the house. Amelia enjoyed swimming lessons and gymnastics and loved getting to play outside.

Here's to May ending.... We're excited for June to arrive!

April Happenings

I can't believe that April is over... and it's already almost May... It's only about 6/7 more weeks until baby brother gets here. We're so excited to have our new addition joining us but also a little nervous. Change is always nerve-wracking right!? Either way adding a little boy to the mix is going to be a great adventure. One we're very excited for!

+Amelia started swimming lessons! She was soo excited to go swimming with Mommy and loved being in the water. The little fish was not excited that mommy was in the water helping her though, "I no need you mommy" is what she kept saying to me. So excited to see her so independent but also heartbreaking because she's only 2!

+We went to the Easter egg hunt at church. Amelia loves going to church and dancing & singing songs to "baby Jesus." It was gorgeous weather and the egg hunt was able to be outside. So fun!

+We had birthday dinner at my parents house for my mom/ Easter celebrations. My mom had an Easter egg hunt for Amelia. My grandparents were there also. So nice to spend time together!

+We also had Nicole's baby shower/Matt's diaper party for their little girl. So exciting to have a niece arriving soon! It'll be very fun for baby brother to have a cousin so close in age.

+We celebrated Easter with Barb and her family. It's always nice to get together with family for holidays. It's nice for Amelia to get to see everyone.

+Easter means an Easter basket! Amelia loved looking for her Minnie basket all over the house. And she was so excited for her Easter egg hunt.

+I'm definitely in "nesting" mode. I cleaned and organized all the bottles, pumping parts, and all of baby brother's clothes. He'll be here before we know it and I definitely want to make sure we're as ready as can be.

April was a busy month with lots of family gatherings. But I love family gatherings and getting to see everyone. It's been great getting to spend time outside with Amelia outside and enjoy the weather. So excited to enjoy the next couple weeks as a family of 3 before life gets busier and a new baby joins the mix.

March Happenings

March. That word alone is enough to drive me crazy living in Wisconsin. Winter doesn't know if it wants to leave and spring is being lazy in it's arrival. We've had many weeks where the weather goes from sunny & 50's to the next day being 30's & snowing... Here's to hoping that with April's arrival, spring will finally decide to stick around.

+March meant birthday month for my daddy! It was nice to get together with my parents and my sisters to celebrate my dad's day. Amelia helped Oma make an ice cream cake for her Opa! She was so excited to help.

+We also got together with Brad's dad Paul & his girlfriend Judy & Matt & Nicole for February birthday month celebrations. It's always nice to hang out and enjoy the time together.

+We also had an impromptu last minute dinner with Paul & Judy on St. Patrick's day. It's nice living so close to them now and being able to text at lunch and say "hey want to meet for dinner...??"

+My best friend Brittany came to visit with her husband & their 1 year old little guy Roman. It was so nice to just chill out, enjoy the time together and talk, talk, & more talking. We enjoyed dinner together and letting the kiddos play while we relaxed & talked. We don't live super close to each other anymore so it's always when we're able to make the 3 hour trip to visit... which is never enough time together!

+one super ucky thing about March meant our house was plagued with illness. Brad & Amelia have been sick on & off for the last 2 weeks. I'm so ready for warmer weather to open windows and get some fresh air in the house. I'm so blessed to have my mom watch Amelia on Wednesday. I never ask her to but she knows tired I am being (this) pregnant so she cleans and spruces up our house for me. Such a huge blessing to me & my family.

+March called for two trips to the Children's museum for Amelia. Brad & I were able to enjoy a day trip with her. && my mom took her there for their Dr. Seuss birthday celebration. Her favorite things are painting and playing in the water area. She would sit and paint for hours if you let her.

+we also totally partook in DQ's free ice cream cone on the first day of spring. Amelia was so excited to get "black" ice cream and wanted to make sure that I gave some to baby brother also.

With April also comes the 7th month of my pregnancy. It's starting to feel closer and closer and we're anxiously counting down the days till baby boy joins us. Every night Amelia kisses my belly and says "good night baby brother". She is so excited to touch my belly and feel "him kickin' me". She loves babies so I know she's going to be a great big sister & helper. April's going to be a great, busy month filled with lots of family time and enjoying our time together as a family of 3.

The kiddos played, we enjoyed dinner out and spent lots of time catching up & talking. It's always so wonderful to be with friends you don't see everyday and nothing changes.

February Happenings

Tomorrow is March... hopefully that means the snow will be melting soon and spring weather will be joining us!

Most people know that I'm a planner... I love having a full calendar and having a million different activities to do with Brad & Amelia... so I have been in full "planning" mode for spring activities and summer activities. Does anyone love holidays as much as me!? Holidays are a great excuse for new clothes and taking a million pictures, both are things I know my husband puts up with to keep me happy. So I'm in the hunt for Amelia's Easter outfit and fun Easter activities to do. Finding a cute Easter outfit is hard work when your child refuses to wear dresses.

I'm also sure that I'm driving Brad crazy with my planning of summer activities already.. but in my defense just because I'll be home on maternity leave doesn't mean I don't want to enjoy my summer time with him & Amelia & new baby brother! Summer is my favorite time, there's endless opportunities and fun things to do...

So back to February...

+we were able to go to Florida! We went with my parents and sisters/boyfriend to Orlando. A trip to Orlando means delicious foods, yummy drinks, warm weather, summer clothes, shopping & swimming.

+a trip to Orlando also means a trip to Disney! Riding tons of rides, parades of characters, meeting your favorite Disney characters, eating Mickey-shaped foods, drinking dole whips, trying new foods, wearing matching shirts, and experiencing "disney" magic with a toddler. I love going to Disney and I'm so blessed we were able to enjoy that time with Amelia before she becomes a big sister!

+coming home to some "surprising" warm weather! It was great for a couple days to enjoy the sun and then winter & snow came back full force. But I'd much rather have snow in February than snow in April... positive thoughts right?

+February is also "birthday month" in our family! Mine & Brad's birthday are in February. It's nice to celebrate another year older and to be thankful for all of the blessings we've had in the past year. Turning 29 is exciting and I'm excited for all the adventures my last year in my 20's will bring. Here's to hoping it's the best year yet.

+we were able to enjoy some fun family time. We went clothes shopping and bought some fun new outfits for Amelia for summer!

+we found out that we're having a little boy! we're very excited, nervous, anxious, and tons of other emotions about this new adventure. ((not to brag...)) Amelia has been such an EASY little girl so we're excited to see what this little boy will bring to our family. Amelia is so excited to be a big sister and to have her "baby brother" join us. she thinks it's very fun to talk to my belly and say hello to "baby brother." if anyone has any name suggestions, we're open to suggestions! we went through our baby clothes to see what we all need... the answer is clothes. lots & lots of clothes. Amelia had sooooo many outfits but of course the majority is all girly! We did go buy some outfits in the excitement of finding out he's a boy && we bought some little outfits at Disney. ((but let's be honest... little boy clothes just aren't as cute as little girl clothes...))

+Brad & I were able to enjoy a date day this month! We went to lunch and the movies. ((I'm a big believer in relationships are all about what YOU put into them. You can't expect people to do things for you or want to be with you if YOU aren't making an effort in the relationship.)) Because of this mindset I'm a firm believer in "dating" my spouse, yes we're "mom & dad" but we're also husband & wife. and we'll be husband & wife long after our kids leave the house. i love getting to spend time with just Brad, going to lunch and just talking about anything & everything; sometimes life is just busy and it's easy to forget to talk besides the everyday talks. Brad & I have been together since we were 15, we're 29... that's 14 years of being a couple and we're drastically different now than we were at 15. it's important for us to spend time together and keep our relationship alive.

+we spent time celebrating our birthdays with Brad's mom & brother/sister-in-law, and Barb's fiance & kids. It's always nice to get together with family, enjoy birthday cake and spend time talking. Everyone has such busy lives and it's nice to spend time together.

Happy almost March everyone! Here's to warmer weather, family gatherings & outings, and preparing for the arrival of baby #2 the beginning of summer.
